
Meet Dr. Jochum
Dr. Christopher J. Jochum is the founder and CEO of CJ Leadership Solutions, LLC. As a sought-after keynote speaker, trainer, and coach who believes that leadership is about influence rather than formal titles, Chris partners with organizations in the United States and abroad to transform their culture and climate by developing leadership capacity within the entire organization. Chris' most requested speaking, training, and coaching topics are leadership development, conflict management, crafting organizational mission statements, and how to build and sustain a healthy organizational culture, climate and supporting core values. Chris hosts "The Department Chair Leadership Podcast" and is the author of "The Department Chair: A Practical Guide to Effective Leadership," and "You Don't Have to Leave to Lead: A Practical Guide to Teacher Leadership." Dr. Jochum is also a Professor and Chair of the Department of Teacher Education at Fort Hays State University, where he leads a large teacher preparation program. His career, spanning close to three decades in K-12 and higher education, began in the public schools teaching Spanish and English as a Second Language before holding faculty appointments at the University of Central Missouri and the University of Nebraska at Kearney. His research focuses on leadership development in both K-12 and higher education.

Dr. Jochum is the author of “The Department Chair: A Practical Guide to Effective Leadership” (Rowman & Littlefield) and serves as the Co-Chair of the Advisory Board for the Academic Chairpersons Conference, where he is also one of the facilitators for the New Chair Alliance. Chris was recently elected as a Commissioner for the Association for Advancing Quality in Educator Preparation (AAQEP) and was one of the founding Directors of The National Center for Clinical Practice in Educator Preparation.
